M&P 9 Extraction Problem

I recently purchased a S&W M&P Pro 9 with a 5" barrel.  Occasionally I will get a jam...the slide comes back, and tries to push a new round in the chamber however the previously fired round is...

Re: M&P 9 Extraction Problem

1.140-1.150 is quite normal for 9mm. 1.600 is a typo Kerry, and 1.169 is max COL for the cartridge, but many reload shorter than this.

Re: M&P 9 Extraction Problem

While I agree that the OP needs to adjust his load, if I'm reading his post correctly he's getting a failure to extract. the slide comes back, and tries to push a new round in the chamber If the slide...

Re: M&P 9 Extraction Problem

I will make the load adjustment as that seems to be a consensus. Tarkeg, you understand exactly what is happening, the slide is retracting enough to strip off a new cartridge, it is also my thought...

Re: M&P 9 Extraction Problem

Does it do this with factory ammo?

Re: M&P 9 Extraction Problem

I read winchester and above assumed WSF with 147's which needs the longer COL, but you are right with titegroup the COL above is fine. This is the load data for 147 XTPs and titegroup, I don't have...

Re: M&P 9 Extraction Problem

The load might be a little light.....my loading for a 147gr Montana Gold 9mm is 3.6 of Titegroup with 1.16" OAL which is running 134PF from a Sig P226... Try a bump to at least 3.4gr and chrono the...

Re: M&P 9 Extraction Problem

I have not tried any factory ammo through it. I will be doing that this Saturday.  I have not chronographed this load through it however, the same load put through a S&W 6906 chronos at 930 fps...

Re: M&P 9 Extraction Problem

I'm amazed everyone is trying to blame the ammo. M&Ps have known extraction issues. Get the Apex failure resistant extractor, or a Glock. Problem solved.

Re: M&P 9 Extraction Problem

I had the same issue untill I switched out the extractor with the APEX, problem solved.

Re: M&P 9 Extraction Problem

Matt, The first step is to try normal ammo. The second step is to look at the extractor. What's so amazing? Koski

Re: M&P 9 Extraction Problem

It isn't the ammo and your OAL is where it should be at 1.115.  I have shot thousands of these bullets out of my PRO with nary a problem using the exact same load.Look to your extractor, your problem...

Re: M&P 9 Extraction Problem

Hey guys, went out this morning, had no factory ammo, as there is none on the store shelf since Wed. morning, but thats another story. I shot several different powder charges with no other changes to...

Re: M&P 9 Extraction Problem

I highly doubt your case length has anything to do with it. It is either your wimpy ammo or a bad extractor. What loads did you shoot through it. Koski

Re: M&P 9 Extraction Problem

Ken,The case rim goes under the extractor before it gets chambered, so that's not it. It's your extractor. You have two choices, live without it for a while and send it to S&W. Or Find someone...

Re: M&P 9 Extraction Problem

Ken, this a shot in the dark, but how many of the cases that failed to extract were Winchester? On other sites there were discussions about the slight difference in rim dimensions of the WWB cases...

Re: M&P 9 Extraction Problem

While your load might be slightly weak, I don't think that would cause the problem you are having. Did you check the ammunition in a case gauge or barrel check it? I experienced a similar problem with...

Re: M&P 9 Extraction Problem

Late to the party here, but I'll throw in my experience for posterity's sake.First, every barrel is different, but mine needs 3.5gr Titegroup to reliably make 890fps or so with the same bullet you are...
